365 NIGHTS / PARALLEL WORLDS: author book - diary / father’s diary, 2015
The author’s book ‘365 NIGHTS’ comes in the form of a diary which reflects the author's experience at dance clubs. In terms of the exhibition titled ‘TRYING TO FORGET’, these are the places where the author tries to leave everything behind. The book consists of 365 pages, each page represents one night. The pages contain only handwritten dates, while each night spent by the author at the club is represented in the book by an armband that Barényi received at the entrance to the club. The nights when the author didn’t go out are therefore ultimately perceived as empty, when ‘nothing happened’.
In the back endleaf of the book, a diary of Barényi’s father has been slipped in. The author works with his father for the first time. In Barényi’s works, reflection about his family members and closest people sporadically repeats itself. In this case, the theme of the overall exhibition links pertinently with his father’s persona who sends his son diary notes of his own evenings at the disco.
This author’s book is the final work created for the exhibition ‘TRYING TO FORGET’. From the contentual point, the exhibition coped with the time when one tries to leave everyday problems behind. Formally, it was an examination of diary forms in visual arts.  The author arrived at this subject as he picked up on the previous five-year period of time when the main theme was his mother's death.

365 NOCÍ / PARALELNÉ SVETY: autorská kniha - denník / otcov denník, 2015

Denníková autorská kniha 365 nocí je formou denníka ktorý reflektuje autorovo chodenie do tanečných klubov. V zmysle výstavy trying to forget, ide o miesta kde autor skúša zabudnúť.
